Searching for a soulmate is a little like archery ... if we shoot our arrows aimlessly into the ether, they are unlikely to hit

Make a very specific list of the “wants” and “don’t wants” of your desired relationship and make a stand to attract those qualities by reviewing your list regularly.
Find out where your type of potential friend is likely to "hang-out" so you might plan to meet them. Pre-design questions to establish compatibility early in meeting, (without sounding as though you are interviewing for marriage!)
Ask your potential partner to also make a soulmate list ... (if they are serious, they won't mind), and then exchange to compare your goals and values.
Never sell yourself short, to a lifetime of incompatibility.
